About Kim Fischer
Kim Fischer has spent her broadcast career at stations in Dallas and San Antonio, Texas, among other places. Since 2011, she has served as an anchor and reporter with the ABC station KTVX in Salt Lake City, Utah. Responsible for anchoring the 5 p.m. news, Kim Fischer also reports breaking news stories and special assignments.
A graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton, Kim Fischer earned a Bachelor’s in radio, television, and film. As a student, she gained broadcast experience interning for the local NBC affiliate. She also hosted the program Live & Loud and anchored and reported for Eagle 22 News, both airing on North Texas Television, the university’s cable channel. In 2003, Ms. Fischer was hired by the Abilene station KRBC, Channel 9, as morning anchor. She spent the next year producing and anchoring the morning show as well as reporting on two beats, health and crime.
In 2004, Kim Fischer left KRBC to accept a lead anchor role at KCIT FOX 13. For the next 18 months, she anchored the 9 p.m. news for the Fox affiliate, while also reporting for the NBC channel’s 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts.
In the years that followed, Kim Fischer relocated to Dallas to host and produce the TV show Hot on Homes for two years, before being recruited to San Antonio to act as nightside reporter for WOAI. In 2009, she joined the NBC station KXAS, in Dallas. She spent the next two years as a morning reporter, investigating and delivering news stories from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. A number of her pieces were picked up nationally, and she appeared during a broadcast of the Today Show in 2011. During this time, she also filled in as a morning anchor.
